چکیده
Carswell, F., and Ferguson, A. (1972). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 47, 594. Food antibodies in serum-a screening test for coeliac disease. Food antibody tests were performed on the sera of 52 children undergoing investigation for suspected coeliac disease. 30 of these were subsequently shown to have coeliac disease. The food antibody tests were at least as effective a screening test for coeliac disease as the whole blood folate determination, serum immunoglobulins, or the barium meal and follow-through.

Salivary IgA antigliadin antibody as a marker for coeliac disease.
In recent years, serum antibodies to gliadin (AGA) have been reported to be useful markers of coeliac disease. IgA AGA have also been found in intestinal secretions and saliva in coeliac disease and may offer a convenient, non-invasive screening test. In order to test this hypothesis, salivary and serum AGA were measured in children with coeliac disease proved by biopsy and compared with severa...
متن کاملSerological screening of coeliac disease: choosing the optimal procedure according to various prevalence values.
The aim of this study was to select the best approach for screening coeliac disease patients among populations with different grades of disease prevalence. The diagnostic performance was assessed of class A and G antigliadin antibodies and class A antiendomysium antibodies in 93 consecutive outpatients with suspected malabsorption, 44 of whom (47%) had coeliac disease according to duodenal hist...
متن کاملIgA-class transglutaminase antibodies in evaluating the efficacy of gluten-free diet in coeliac disease.
OBJECTIVE Serum IgA-class tissue transglutaminase antibody has proved effective in screening for coeliac disease. The response to a gluten-free diet has been assessed on the basis of small-intestinal morphology. We investigated whether the tissue transglutaminase antibody test could substitute biopsy in this respect, and whether the test is better than the endomysial antibody test in follow-up....

Carswell, F., and Ferguson, A. (1973). Archives ofDisease in Childhood, 48, 583. Plasma food antibodies during withdrawal and reintroduction of dietary gluten in coeliac disease. Out of 55 patients with coeliac disease, 40 had food antibodies in their plasma at diagnosis. The antibodies disappeared in all but 6 of 21 patients after 2 months on a gluten-free diet. 5 out of these 6 patients had h...
متن کاملDevelopment of a novel rapid non-invasive screening test for coeliac disease.
BACKGROUND Coeliac disease is one of the commonest underdiagnosed diseases in general practice. The autoantigen recognised by the sera of patients with coeliac disease has recently been identified as tissue transglutaminase. AIMS We evaluated a simple non-invasive immunological dot blot assay for coeliac disease, suitable for use by the general physician in the ambulatory setting. The sensiti...
